This isn’t the first time State Senator Suzi Oppenheimer and Assemblyman George Latimer have abandoned Westchester taxpayers.

The 2009-10 and 2010-11 New York State Budgets increased taxes and spending by over $14 billion.  Westchester’s STAR Property Tax Rebate Checks were eliminated and the MTA Payroll Tax on all jobs in Westchester County was adopted.

The net result—a 12% increase in state spending, higher property taxes, utility bills, income taxes and new state fees on just about everything and more than 245,000 private sector jobs lost.

Senator Oppenheimer cast the deciding vote for every one of these measure that hurt Westchester taxpayers, devastated our economy and cost us jobs.

Assemblyman Latimer joined her to increase state spending in the 2010-11 budget, cut our School Tax Relief (STAR) property tax savings by $120 million, reinstate the state sales tax on clothing and shoes costing families $330 million and impose $75.6 million in new state fees.

And with Westchester’s economy struggling, he raised taxes on businesses by $1 billion, jeopardizing 114,000 private sector jobs, and redirected state $420 million in state tax breaks to New York City’s film industry.

All while Westchester taxpayers send $3 billion in state personal income taxes to Albany each year ($7,000 per taxpayer), which is the second most in the state behind only New York City.

Westchester Taxpayers have had enough!
